Honestly? At this point, it doesn’t matter if it’s human beings walking around without souls or not. GPT-3 can procedurally generate mountains of that shit now. All you need is half-a-dozen MIT grads sitting in a nondescript office building in Tuscaloosa and a credit card saved in AWS. And militaries and spooks in their compartmented programs generally have tech a decade or three before it trickles down to the public, so maybe Dead Internet Theory wasn’t so crazy after all.
