… Why do you think they support mass immigration?
Yes, it is quite interesting to see Anarcho-Syndicalist Marxists cheering for the state militia acting as scabs to replace health care workers.
I could see the writing on the wall back in the 1990’s, due to a development in the Service Employees International Union, SEIU. In 1996, one Andy Stern became President of SEIU. Labor union politics can be opaque to outsiders, but Stern was successful in organizing more workers via SEIU and did gain some specific pay and benefits gains. But culturally, SEIU because functionally anti-white and erased the historical division between American workers and illegal immigrant scab labor. Stern’s SEIU was, along with the Teamsters, a founding member of the reformist Change to Win Federation, a challenge to the AFL-CIO to begin actually organizing new workers instead of simply holding the line in certain industries and engaging in Democratic party politics.
But what Stern’s target market was illegal immigrant scab labor. Compare Stern to another legendary Jewish labor leader, Samuel Gompers.
Gompers, like most labor leaders, opposed unrestricted immigration from Europe because of the fear that it might lower wages of domestic union workers. He strongly opposed all immigration from Asia because it lowered wages and, in his judgement, represented an alien culture that could not be assimilated easily into that of the U.S. Gompers bragged that the Federation of Organized Trades and Labor Unions (FOTLU), later renamed the American Federation of Labor (AFL), “was the first national organization which demanded the exclusion of coolies from the United States”. He and the AFL strongly supported the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 that banned the immigration of Chinese, and published a pamphlet entitled “Some reasons for Chinese exclusion. Meat vs. Rice. American Manhood against Asiatic Coolieism. Which shall survive?” in 1901. The AFL was instrumental in passing immigration restriction laws from the 1890s to the 1920s, such as the 1921 Emergency Quota Act and the Immigration Act of 1924 signed into law by President Calvin Coolidge.
Stern was the opposite. He was a strong supporter of mass immigration, legal and illegal, and promoted the “community model” which also included such Capitalist-friendly policies as offloading worker’s benefits to the government. “Anti-racism” – meaning, anti-whiteness – became a major focus of SEIU under Stern. While in the previous generation, Jewish labor leaders like Gompers say themselves as part of the American working class.
Stern has a completely different background. His father was an lawyer, and Stern is a part of elite academia: “a senior fellow at Georgetown University, Columbia University, and is now a Senior Fellow at the Economic Security Project.”
Like David Gelbaum of the Sierra Club, Stern has a basic and fundamental conflict of interest with his institution. More immigration lowers the wages of the workers in SEIU’s industries, just as mass immigration threatens the California environment.
But David Gelbaum and Andy Stern have chosen to support mass immigration over the basic interests of their institutions, the Sierra Club and SEIU. It cannot be reduced to simply their Jewish identities, because as we can see the previous generation of Jewish labor leaders, like Samuel Gompers, were patriotic and wanted to keep foreign scab labor out.
It’s clear which side has won.
Ironically – or maybe not so ironically – Andy Stern’s pro-mass immigration policies has undercut SEIU’s own workers, as Gelbaum’s pro-mass immigration policies have hurt the California environment.
Instead, we see Union Leadership more or less acting as the Human Resources department for Company Management, disciplining workers.
The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) said Tuesday employers have the legal right to mandate vaccines once the FDA gives final approval for the COVID-19 vaccines.
“However, the State can not simply declare a vaccine mandate and walk away. They must listen to essential workers and address our concerns with how this policy is implemented,” said SEIU Executive Direcgtor Melissa Unger and President Mike Powers in a joint statement.
The union demanded the right to bargain over the impacts a vaccine mandate would make. Unger and Powers said they “will fight for paid time off to take the vaccine and recover, exemptions for people with a documented reason for not taking the vaccine, and a seat at the table to ensure” every voice is heard.
One also gets the sense that SEIU management is acting as a Public Relations firm for the vaccine mandates and really only attempting to ensure that they will be involved in the implementation of the new mandates.
What is happening at Southwest Airlines is a classic wildcat strike. But instead of the Left cheering on this development – something one would expect groups like the Democratic Socialists of America and the Industrial Workers of the World to absolutely celebrate – the Left is instead taking the side of management against the workers.
Airline insiders and conservatives are are wondering if the cancellations are part of a “sick out” in response to the vaccine policy.
More than 25% of the airline’s flights were canceled on Sunday per the FlightAware tracker.
The Left has become so sadistic it is even cheering the mass firings of New York health care workers – who worked all throughout the pandemic without a vaccine – and having them replaced by the National Guard who are not even mandated to be vaccinated yet.
It is clearly not about health. It is about increasing Pfizer’s and Moderna’s stock prices, and making sure that workers submit to intrusive and unwanted experimental gene therapy.
The Left – just an extension of the Democratic party – are clearly siding with Capital over Labor, and sadistically so, cheering for the mass firings.
It is also interesting to see Silicon Valley Capitalists go into fits of rage at the idea that unionized port workers and truckers are, like, more critical than they are.
