The New York Times, which by any measure is far, far to the left of the average American, has “doxed” Scott Alexander of the SlateStarCodex blog. Alexander is a Jewish progressive – far, far to the left of most Americans – but apparently on his blog he has a link to Nick Land.

The people on Hacker News, Silicon Valley employees and their hangers-on, consider themselves quite “moderate” on this issue. The consensus is that Alexander should not be canceled for having a link on his blog, because he doesn’t agree with Nick Land.

But if Scott Alexander DID agree with Nick Land, that would be horrific and he would deserved to be canceled.

I’m fairly certain that the number of people discussing Nick Land that have actually read him is quite low. Who is Nick Land, what makes him so toxic?

“Land has promoted the Atomwaffen-affiliated Order of Nine Angles that adheres to the ideology of neo-Nazi terrorist accelerationism, describing O9A’s works as “highly-recommended”.” If someone in this thread actually disputes that Nick Land’s writings are inspirational to cross-burning white supremacists, which is what I read the NYT article to be saying, let’s debate that.

“Atomwaffen” and the “Order of Nine Angles” are mirages; they are literally fake “white supremacist” groups set up by the FBI, for the specific purpose of entrapping some young White teenager into saying something illegal online.

Yet these highly educated Silicon Valley denizens are absolutely convinced that there exists “white supremacist” groups all around America, burning crosses on Black people’s lawns. They believe this because groups like the SPLC and the ADL tell them these absurd lies, and the entire mass media – the New York Times, the Washington Post, ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX – pretend that the SPLC and the ADL are some sort of objective “hate watchdogs” as opposed to, in the case of the ADL, a foreign espionage operation specializing in defaming political opponents of racist, apartheid supporting Zionism, and in the case of the SPLC, literally a direct mail scam operation that turned “political” when they discovered it was more profitable.

All of these people are smart enough and savvy enough that if they chose to do even some cursory research they would come to the conclusion that “cross burning white supremacists” essentially do not exist.

But it is high-status to pretend that “cross burning white supremacists” are a real threat to America, and it is low-status to acknowledge they don’t exist.

30 years ago when the Internet was first going mainstream, the general culture of these same people was libertarian. “Free Speech” was considered one of the highest virtues. They wrote comically haughty and self-important statements like A Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace

Governments of the Industrial World, you weary giants of flesh and steel, I come from Cyberspace, the new home of Mind. On behalf of the future, I ask you of the past to leave us alone. You are not welcome among us. You have no sovereignty where we gather. – John Perry Barlow, “A Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace”

I can assure you, it was just as unintentionally hilarious back then as it is now. But there was a feeling that at least these people really believed in freedom of speech, so it was considered a good trade off – let these people sniff their own farts because they really would prevent government censorship online.

Apparently, when these same people realized that the average American would rather vote for Donald Trump than them, they turned on a dime, and now believe that ALL online speech should go through layers of public and private censorship, and that the average person simply should not be allowed to express opinions that are even slightly out of step with the Silicon Valley Neo-Liberal consensus.

These people are totalitarians that make Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot seem like reasonable moderates – and that is no exaggeration.

Stalin could send you to a gulag – these people want to give your drugs and literal electronic brain implants to prevent you from thinking “bad” thoughts.

How can we protect the world from these people?

A wall around San Jose?

I oppose terrorism and murder. Bombing the offices of Alphabet and Facebook would be morally wrong and probably not that effective anyway. Targeted assassinations are also morally wrong and illegal, whether or not such tactics would be effective.

These people are religious extremists, and their extremism is based on their own unshakable belief that they are morally superior to others. These feelings of moral superiority are textbook religious fanaticism – but would have little impact on the wider society if these people were not dedicated servants of the ruling class and constantly praised by the mass media.

Their opposition to Nick Land is actually rather ironic.

Ten years ago I was first introduced to Nick Land by a Youtube video of a “Transgender” person, who explain that they were a “Neo-Reactionary” and that the coming Technorcacy was going to be an opportunity for them to get revenge on all the “jocks” that made fun of them in high school.

Not a joke. This was an early “NRx” influencer.

The denizens of Hacker News are 100% behind extreme censorship and oppression of anyone not fully supporting of every “Transgender” agenda item. One commenter on Hacker News told me that having separate bathrooms for men and women was “segregation” – just like segregation in the pre-Civil Rights South – and nothing but a barbaric relic of primitive times that humanity would “learn to overcome eventually.”

A male who believed that him not being allowed into the women’s restroom was a violation of his civil rights and a product of “barbarism.”

No arguments need to be made; their moral superiority is self-evident – to themselves.

Of course these people are nothing new:

But in an earlier era one could simply ignore these religious fanatics living in their rural compounds.

Now, these people have control of the technological infrastructure and weapons such as artificial intelligence. They are more dangerous than ever, and they are coming for every human being on the planet.

There is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. So you’ll have to fight – one way or another.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be “cured” against one’s will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals.” — C. S. Lewis

These people are a clear and present danger – not an abstract threat. Questions about the concentration of people in Silicon Valley with neurological issues – such as Asperger’s Syndrome – and how that may influence their bigotry, inability to feel normal human emotions, lack of empathy, and general misanthropy as contributing causes -is an open question and an important one.

Clear and present danger – not a joke, not an exaggeration. How can we defend ourselves?
